Traynor’s Garage was first established by Brian Traynor in 1960. It started as a small garage at the rear of his existing Bar & Drapery business and over the years the business grew from strength to strength. In 1992 Damien Traynor (Brian’s Sons) took, over the business and relocated business into a purpose built facility on the main Longford to Galway (N63) road. Damien grew up in a business environment and developed a keen interest in pursuing a career in the motoring trade. His passion steered him to earn professional qualifications and training to become a mechanic and panel beater. Over the years, capital was continuously reinvested back into the business. Today, Traynor’s Garage have a modern facility and each service department has its own state of the art equipment and specialist tools to deal any issue that may arise. Damien Traynor and his wife Ann Marie are the current proprietors of Traynor’s Garage and are responsible for the day to day running of the business providing sales, mechanical service and crash repairs to the local and wider communities.

Traynor’s Garage prides itself with placing a huge emphasis on customer satisfaction. Over 85% of sales and customer base are from repeat customers or referrals. This figure has remained consistent over the past 60 years we have been in business and is as a direct result of excellent quality of service in Sales & Aftersales, Service and Repairs. For the past 5 years, Traynor’s Garage have been main dealers for commercial brands LDV and Isuzu. Traynor’s Garage are the leading dealer in Ireland for LDV as recognised by the distributor (Harris Group) since March 2018.
How have Traynor’s Garage adapted to meet customer requirements throughout the COVID-19 pandemic?
Traynor’s Garage have made the switch to become more digital. This comes as a result of government restrictions and public mindset in relation to public outings. We have recently relaunched ourselves on social media in a bid to connect with our customers during these unprecedented times. We are up front with our customers and always ask for feedback upon the completion of work, this gives us the opportunity to provide the best service we can as any issues are dealt with immediately. To facilitate car sales, online viewings are available on the business website. We offer 360º walk around videos of vehicles to give customers the chance to view current stocklists in the comfort of their own home. The sales department also have virtual consultations and face to face meetings via Zoom and WhatsApp to give the customers a sense of security during the sales process. Each vehicle is advertised with an In-dept. description with full internal and external view. Finance packages can be arranged and approved over the phone, followed by a safe delivery of the vehicle to the customer while adhering to travel restrictions.

Traynor’s Garage have recently been awarded a ‘Best in Class’ Commercial Vehicle Dealer of the Year All Ireland Business All-Star Accreditation. This accolade is a recognition for the level of service we have provided to our customer base over the past 60 years. Our business has survived multiple recessions and economic downturns, which not many business in our position can say. This is a testament to us a business, showing our quality of work is consistent no matter the circumstance. What started out as a small garage, has evolved over the years and our accolades show that a small business in Ballygar can compete with the best in the business.
